9/6/15 Recipe of the Week: Crunchy Cabbage Salad
1 lb. pkg. Coleslaw Mix
2 pkgs. Broken Ramen Noodles
½ cup Sugar
1/3 cup Sunflower Seeds
2 Ramen Noodle Season Packets
1/3 cup Broken Cashews
1/3 cup White Vinegar
1 cup Oil
Mix vinegar, oil, 2 packets of ramen noodle seasoning and sugar. Shake to blend well. Set aside. Put coleslaw in a large bowl. Add nuts, seeds, and noodles to coleslaw. Add dressing when ready to serve.
9/13/15 Recipe of the Week: Freezer Dessert
1 can Strawberry Pie Filling (Your Choice)
13 oz. Cool Whip
1 can Crushed Pineapple
1 bag Mini Marshmallows
1 can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
Mix well, put in freezer. Set out a few minutes before serving. Store in freezer.
9/20/15 Recipe of the Week: Rat Trap Spaghetti
1 lb. Barillo Spaghetti or substitute
Approx. ½ 8 oz. can Tomato Sauce
1 (8 oz.) Pack Shredded Extra Sharp Cheese
¼ Stick Butter
Cook spaghetti. Drain and return to pot. Add remaining ingredients, stir and serve hot.
9/27/15 Recipe of the Week: Chili
2 ½ – 3 lbs. Hamburger
1 large Onion, Chopped
2 (15 ½ oz.) cans Kidney Beans
2 (1 lb.) cans Whole Tomatoes
2 (15 oz.) cans Hunts Tomato Sauce
3 Tbs. Chili Powder (or to your own taste)
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Pepper
Brown hamburger; drain off grease. Add onions, tomatoes, sauce, beans and seasonings. Let simmer for 1 ½ hours over medium heat, uncovered. Yields about 10 servings.
