11/1/15 Recipe of the Week: Spicy Meatballs

1 ½ lbs. Ground Beef
3 Tbs. Onion
1 cup Milk
1 cup Bread or Cracker Crumbs

2 Tbs. Brown Sugar
½ tsp. Pepper
1 cup Ketchup
6 Tbs. Onion
2 Tbs. Worcestershire Sauce
½ cup Water

Mix ground beef, milk, crumbs, onions and pepper. Make into meatballs and brown. Mix sauce ingredients together and pour over meatballs. Bake in covered dish at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

11/8/15 Recipe of the Week: Red Stew (Cost 32 cents in 1949)

1 Onion
3 cups Cooked Kidney Beans
1 tsp. Fat
Salt and Pepper to Taste
½ can Corned Beef, Chopped
Water as Needed

Cook onion in fat until browned. Add remaining ingredients and heat for 5 minutes.

11/15/15 Recipe of the Week: Ziti Pasta

1 lb. Ziti Pasta
½ of each Pepper – Yellow, Red, Orange (Chopped)
4-5 Cloves
1 Yellow Zucchini (Sliced and Cut in Half)
Oregano and Basil
2 Tbs. Olive Oil
½ small Onion
5 Roma Tomatoes, Chopped

Sauté garlic in olive oil. Add vegetables except tomatoes. Cook until almost tender. Add more oil to keep going. Add tomatoes and cook all till tender. Drain pasta; put in serving bowl and add vegetables. Toss to serve. Serves 6.

11/22/15 Recipe of the Week: Pizza Casserole

1 lb. Hamburger
½ lb. small Pepperoni, Sliced
1 Chopped Onion
1 qt. Spaghetti Sauce
2 cups Mozzarella Cheese
1 Green Pepper, Chopped
3 cups Spiral Macaroni
1 cup Mushroom

Cook macaroni until done. Drain. Brown meat, onion and green pepper. Drain grease. Add spaghetti sauce. Simmer 15 minutes. Add mushrooms, pepperoni, and macaroni. Pour into large casserole or cake pan. Put cheese on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted.

11/29/15 Recipe of the Week: Christmas Cranberry Salad

1 lg. Box Cherry Jello or 2 small Boxes
2 cups Sugar
1 Whole Orange
½ cup Ground Walnuts
4 cups Finely Cut Celery
1 qt. Hot Water
4 cups Crushed Pineapple
1 Box Cranberries (ground)

Mix jello, sugar and water; let start to thicken. Add remaining ingredients and mold into 1 large pan and 1 small pan.
